My musical projects:

  • Hank, Pattie & The Current

Bluegrass ambassadors Hank Smith and Pattie Hopkins Kinlaw join forces once again with their original and energetic new soulgrass band, Hank and Pattie. Hank and Pattie take bluegrass and infuse it with their own flair, drawing from a melting pot of styles including classical and Motown, which adds up to an authentic and unique reflection of American music. While some of the music sounds old school and some sounds fresh and new, their overall musicianship, vocal harmonies, impassioned delivery and innovative arrangements captivate all generations of music lovers.

Hank and Pattie are backed by an all-star band comprised of Carolina musicians Stevie Martinez on Bass and vocals and Billie Feather on guitar.

  • Resonator

A classically inspired duo featuring Hank Smith on banjo and Billie Feather on classical guitar. Performing original compositions and arrangements.

  • Charles Latham and The Borrowed Band

"Latham's music is passionate with biting wit." --NPR

Charles Latham wields an acid tongue and a poison pen, crafting social criticism, tragicomic narratives, and brutal self-analysis into ramshackle country-rock songs. After a decade of wandering, from Philadelphia to Nashville to Memphis to the U.K., singer-songwriter Charles Latham returned to North Carolina in late 2014, laying roots down in Durham. His 2017 LP, "Little Me Time", found Latham combining his acerbic wit and quirky songwriting with more polished production values and an expansive sound. In order to bring the songs to life for live audiences, he recruited an ensemble of local talent, now known as The Borrowed Band.

  • The Wiley Fosters

The Wiley Fosters began in 2010 as the house band at Zog’s Pool Hall in Chapel Hill. From 2014 - 2018 they were in residency at Mystery Brewing Company in Hillsborough and in 2019 became the house band at Unscripted Hotel in Durham, NC.

They are named in tribute to their great friend Mr Tater The Music Maker (née Foster Wiley) of Clarksdale, Mississippi. The Wiley Fosters try and live up to the example that the real Foster Wiley set by always having new members, new instrumentation, and new songs. As Mr. Tater famously said in his “Music Maker” documentary, “I make people happy… and I never play the same song twice neither.”

  • Billie Feather and The Hallway Waltz

The Hallway Waltz consists of an all-star band with cello, pedal steel, and synthesizer featuring Billie’s own compositions.

  • Hello Darling (Jazz Trio)

A trio of friends and music educators who met while studying at NCCU’s prestigious jazz program, Hello Darling performs a mix of jazz standards and their own compositions.

  • The P-90's

Winston-Salem Punk Rock in the spirit of the Ramones and Joan Jett.

  • The Holland Brothers

North Carolina’s the Holland Brothers (of JennyAnyKind fame) sing blood harmony and produce a sound rooted in old-time country and country blues. You can see us on HBO’s “Righteous Gemstones” and Apple TV’s “Dickenson”.
